When I bought my first boat, Frolic, I was told I would get 2 feetitus. A strong desire to have just 2 more feet of boat. They were right, and I did get 2 feetitus. So after 12 years I just jumped forward to 16 feet more......LOLOLOL

2 FEET CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

Do you use the bow or aft cabin for sleeping?
We have used both and the forward area is most open with most head room and you can exit the bed for either side. Even though you make the bed each night it's not so hard. The aft cabin has headroom issues but the bed is actually larger. The Gozzard floor plan is not typical. In general, the aft berth fills with junk since cruising is more about hauling crap around than anything else. Other people on other boat designs fill the V Berth. So you need a place to be the "garage". We also have a basement in the forward hull too.

38 foot center cockpit boat

We have had 2 different friends that are extremely happy with an Endeavor 38 CC. You might want to check one of those out.

I have met a couple of sailors that were cruising with a Bavaria 38 Ocean Center Cockpit. Decently built boat and reasonably priced. As an example, here is one for sale: Sailboats - 1998 38' ft Bavaria Ocean 38 - Cruiser (Sail), Center Cockpit, Sloop - Tortola, 000 - UsedBoats.com

Thanks Hansdg53.

VERY nice Bavaria!

Unfortunately, it's asking price is about double my preferred spending limit.

Ok, I was not sure how big your budget was. Good luck with your explorations and I am sure you will find something nice!

Re: 38' (+/-) Center Cockpit Sloop/Cutter Recommendations???

I have just bought a cutter rigged 39' aluminium sloop, a feltz skorpion IIa, german built and designed, a sort of centre cockpit, but positioned almost as a aft cockpit, with a large aft double cabin.
As the motor is in the keel it has the option of three double cabins, the third cabin is aft of the nav area, on the starboard side and can be built over the engine, in mine, it is only a single crew bed and not built over the engine.
But 3 sleeping cabins, in a 39' sloop is great, the saloon is big as well.
It has great open, curved deck space, good galley, good tankage, all in the keel and the design seems to be very good, for me anyway?
she sails well to windward and will point at 45 dgrees apparent wind and do 5 knots in 9knots of wind, she will point higher, but slows down.
I spend 99% of the time at anchor, living in her, so the comfort of the design for livavbility was very important, I dont race her.
Cheers from Keith.

Not very many of them around, however the Mariner 39 is an outstanding boat. Mariner 39: Well Found and Family Friendly | Cruising World I was on one that sold when I first started my boat search. Have kicked myself ever since for not jumping on her.

I like Tartans of the 37 series. They are not cheap though.
