<37' with Headroom?

My wife and I are beginning to research purchasing a bluewater boat for circumnavigation. We aren't rich, so budget will certainly be a concern. We are hoping to keep it to $80,000 all in, but will stretch it to $100,000 for the right boat.
However being 6'2" headroom is going to be an issue it seems. I have heard the Tartan 37 is pretty good in that regard, but Im not sure about the rest of the boat.
Can you guys recommend some <37' boats with good headroom that fit my budget?
Thanks!

At 38' but within your budget, you could have a look at the Wauquiez Hood 38.
Cabin headroom is 6'4" if I recall correctly.

Should be well within budget to buy and very well suited for blue water cruising.

Thanks for the replies. Another question. When you see a boat advertised as having “6’2” headroom”, does that usually mean throughout the cabin or just on the centerline?

Re: <37' with Headroom?

Generally it will be the maximum due to marketing but more designs you will have similar clearances across the cabin top with settees/tables cabinet etc limited standing room along the sides as the overhead clearance is reduced.

Your other limiting factor will be berth length.

Hunter 37 (the 80s cutter rig one) has a bunch of headroom and is a really nice boat

Re: <37' with Headroom?

Any advice there? Are any of the ones mentioned long enough for 6’2”?

This was in relation to berth length. Forgot to quote.

Re: <37' with Headroom?

My buddy is your height and has slept comfortably in all our berths. He naps regularly on the settee and tries to steal the V berth (captains quarters) for naps because it’s the biggest bed and he’s a big guy and likes his space. He frequents the pilot berth most often as he can’t roll out but if we’re at anchor and have time he’ll convert the table. I think his feet hang off a little in the pilot berth but it’s an acceptable trade off of being secure on both sides.
