30' Moody

I am looking at a 30' Moody with a good Diesel. Seems to be in fair shape but the price may be right. I think I can get it for $2.5K off the current owner. Anyone know anything about this design? I want to sail blue water. It is currently not set up for that, but that is something I can equip for.

Unless there's a lot of soft deck, missing mast/boom/sails, etc., buy it. Or give me the guy's number.

A 30' Moody for $2,500? Unless it is sinking at the dock or has been sunk and raised it's probably worth it. Do check the deck for soft spots, water, rot, etc. For that price you can redo the rig or any other similar item and still have a good deal.

Even if it's sinking at the dock... BUY IT NOW... It's a Moody!

Re: 30' Moody

The above posts seem quite decisive and I will add my vote

There is also a Moody Owners Association and forum which you might want to view. It's more technical and model specific rather than CF which covers a plethora of subjects, some of which are even about cruising. Anyway the MOA link, the forum is under "info Exchange".

Re: 30' Moody

Moody has a solid reputation - similar or better than Tartan. If this one is in good condition (note the IF!) this is a fantastic bargain. The ridiculously low price gives reason to have the boat surveyed carefully. (Of course any offer would be subject to passing your surveyor's examination.)
