1988 Hunter 45 Legend...

I'll be casting lines next winter (a year from now). I don't have a boat yet but am actively looking. One boat that has caught my attention is a 1988 Hunter Legend 45. Very well equipped and cared for. Here is a link... 1988 Hunter Legend Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com However, Hunters seem to get a bad rap. Flex, rudder, no backstay, and other things are on the black list. I would like some honest, but informed opinions on this boat. I will be living aboard and cruising Central America and the Caribbean for 5-10 years, most of the time just 2 of us aboard with the usual guests over time. If I get really bored, I may consider a passage to the South Pacific but that is not likely. Also have considered Beneteaus in the 39-43' range. Thoughts or comparisons on that would be appreciated as well.

For the intened area could be fine, caribbean and C america, im not sure if the legend carry backstays or not, again a good survey and and good look at the vital parts of the boat ,like you say rudder , keel, etc... The price is hig to me, for that money you got other options in the list....Good luck..

You wouldn't get that here, just bashing and rumor! But maybe on the below:

Swiss friend of mine bought a Legend back in '06... pottered round the Carib with his young son and GF for a while... then they crossed over to the Med for a while... then headed back across and down to Brazil.
And currently they're living aboard while he finishes of a 4yr contract he pulled in Brazil... pretty sure he'd have moved it on unless he was pretty happy with her.. Nice boat...
