1977 Bombay Clipper 31'

Brand new member... Long time lurker. I'm looking at a 1977 32' Bombay Clipper Anyone have any thoughts, advice, ideas? Looking for an inexpensive, first time coastal cruiser.

Thanks..

Not sure about a 32 but if it is this one; BOMBAY CLIPPER 31 sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com They are known to be pretty stalwart boats. I think they were made by Chaparral. My only personal comment (FWIW, it is free advice) I am not too keen on the head being opposite the galley. Not that it makes that much difference in something under 35 feet but it is a point to ponder. There are some comments from owners over on Sailnet.

What cruising grounds are you looking to lump around?

It's a 31'. The 32 was a typo...

Thanks for the input. We're looking at the Gulf coast of Florida..

nice boat. lot's of room for a 31 compared to others it's size. the head placement allows a pullman berth rather than a v-berth and a real chain locker. engine access is pretty good too. shallow draft long keel well suited for the gulf coast of florida. don't expect it to sail like a 12 meter boat but for cruising i think it's a pretty good choice in that size range.

guy here on the space coast bought a fixer upper bombay clipper 31 two years ago, in fair condition. spent over a year bringing it up to like new. left for the bahamas a few months ago....
