Quite agree on that. Is nice to know that many of us are secure enough to enjoy a tease regardless of whatever side of the tease we are on .

Actually while I was working around the Pacific I got the chance to go on piles of the local boats. Next to none of these 1000's of years old sea based countries run much in the way of multis as they are commonly known as. Many do have proas or just single trunk tree boats. And boy oh boy some of them Proas are lightening quick. The Kiribati ones especially. Laminated sails but from bed sheets glued to plastic sheets. Coconut palm fibre made stings and coconut palms for the big hull. They'll easily do 30kts. Very impressive indeed. BUT they are all only coastal boats and aren't taken offshore.

Interesting point you have there ML1. The big Maori voyaging canoes were multis though or rumoured to have been so, it was a while ago. Maybe this isn't a good time to mention how the Maoris didn't actually sail to NZ more just got blown here as their boats didn't point and go to windward at all well Maybe that's why the dumped them in favour of monos once here. Interesting indeed, I must look into that more.

Now just noticed something else. Should we be pulling Roblanford up over this wayward post -

Which is better of course is whatever type of boat I happen to be on at the time (even power types).

Around these parts, it was common for Maori to take there single hulls over land as a short cut. We are talking Hulls well over 100ft here, not some small log. Getting a multi hull over the saddles they got the monos would have been impossible.

Little known fact is they landed on the moon well before Armstrong

I like the idea of a catamaran to get there and a mono to get back. Maybe we can jettison a hull when it's time to go upwind.

Gezzz.... don't give them more ideas. They are trying to claim 'aircraft airspace' and 'radio waves' under traditional use rights. Maybe they didn't come by boat, maybe it was by aircraft.

That could explain why a NZer was the 1st person to fly. Richard Pierce may have stolen their technology Actually that would make him 2nd and the Wright Bros 3rd I suppose

Only for training purposes, now they use monos

Reasons why a power boat is better than a sailboat:

#1: A power boat can go straight to where you want to go without going somewhere else first.
