55. Whe you run aground you only have one keel to unstick.
56. monohulls offer more meaningful views; on one side you can see the clouds that are over you, not just on their way, and on the other side you can see fish!
57. You don't have to cook underway.
58. one de-icing bubbler gets the job done.
59. You can talk to someone on the other side of the boat in a normal voice.
60. When you're heeled, theres no one ON the other side of the boat anyway.
61. Rigidly braced in the cockpit with heavy spray in the face at 6 knots is much faster than 12 knots in a dry, flat cat.

62. If you already know how to sail, you don't have to pay for training hulls.

- On average the rum locker is closer
- Only one bilge to clean
- Only one keel to be dragged under when keel hauled
- Easier to hang your head between your legs when seasick or spent to much time visiting the rum locker (just face downhill)
- The ride is not suited to jerk lovers so no jerks
- Only one hull so only half the risk of hitting something
- Can actually tighten the forestay
- Is obvious when you are going sideways or backwards
- Don't have people wanting to play tennis or beach volleyball on the deck
- Smaller target for the seagulls
- People don't confuse you with lost polynesians

This could be like naming the 101 Dalmations .

#068 Mono shafts go down
#069 Mono propellers are bigger
#070 Less worry as mono saildrives are protected by a big lump of metal
#071 A mono engine is repairable
#072 Mono owners have unhappy brokers/mechanics/riggers
#073 Volvo hates monos

#74 A good looking mono looks beautiful. At best a good looking multi looks "neat". Sort of liking a Monet compared to an HDTV displaying a Monet.
#75 I can fit in a tiny canal.

76: When you say galley down it means the boat has sunk.
77: When you find your boat on the bottom it will probably be right side up.
78: It will sail faster to the bottom faster than it will sail in light winds.

I just joined this forum and came across this thread. How many of you actually have at least 5000 open ocean miles on monohulls, catamarans and trimarans? I mean at least 5000 miles on each...

Over the past thirty years I have owned, cruised and crossed oceans on one monohull, 3 trimarans and five catamarans. I was also a professional delivery skipper for many years and delivered Beneteau's and other monohulls for the Moorings and Sunsail (average ocean passage 1500 miles).

My personal vessels of choice, since owning a monohull 33 years ago, have been multihulls. Safe, seaworthy, comfortable, large deck spaces, can't sink, lots more reasons.

I get so tired of people pontificating about multihulls when they've never been at sea on one. If you want a serious discussion, start with your credentials. Don't talk about something of which you know nothing...

Touche Dave! Well played!

77 - Admiral doesn't banish you to starboard hull when she's p/o'd
78 - No one makes jokes about men, cats and P*ss*es
79 - The chicks admire a nice bowsprit
80 - When landlubbers ask you what kind of boat you have you don't have to explain why a catamaran isn't called a bi-maran.
81 - Sailors - Pardeys vs. Bumfuzzles - 'nuff said... (OK cheap shot...)

82 - Show up in a mono - You don't have to introduce yourself with your credentials to get credibility. People "know" you know how to sail.

wildgoose - Just funnin' Welcome to the forum - You've jumped in to the middle of a most non-serious thread.
