- Only one hull so only half the risk of hitting something
- Can actually tighten the forestay
- Is obvious when you are going sideways or backwards
- Don't have people wanting to play tennis or beach volleyball on the deck
- Smaller target for the seagulls
- People don't confuse you with lost polynesians

I just joined this forum and came across this thread. How many of you actually have at least 5000 open ocean miles on monohulls, catamarans and trimarans? I mean at least 5000 miles on each...

Over the past thirty years I have owned, cruised and crossed oceans on one monohull, 3 trimarans and five catamarans. I was also a professional delivery skipper for many years and delivered Beneteau's and other monohulls for the Moorings and Sunsail (average ocean passage 1500 miles).

My personal vessels of choice, since owning a monohull 33 years ago, have been multihulls. Safe, seaworthy, comfortable, large deck spaces, can't sink, lots more reasons.

I get so tired of people pontificating about multihulls when they've never been at sea on one. If you want a serious discussion, start with your credentials. Don't talk about something of which you know nothing...

82 - Show up in a mono - You don't have to introduce yourself with your credentials to get credibility. People "know" you know how to sail.
