Prior to that, we were using the old Book of Horrors [a very old but the most recent Faroes tidal atlas, with the huge red fans showing the tidal races] which is based not on the timing of HW somewhere, but on the moon meridian passage time. First time I've ever dealt with that in a lifetime of sailing. Fortunately we have a skilled celestial navigator on board.
That's the book I was talking about that I found next to useless. I sent a note to the author of the Cruising Guide to suggest that he drop this tidal book (waste of money), but he took great exception to my comment. Oh well.

Why did you find it useless? I thought it was fine PROVIDED you had a way to get the moon meridian passage time.

DH-

See if this resource offers the info and granularity you need.

I selected 'Tides' in left column, and then a random coordinate in SE Iceland on map.

Attached is a snip of the resulting data.

In case this is useful...

Cheers! Bill

Try www.road/seaside/ and click on weather and seaside in the left side.

Re: Tidal Streams for Iceland

We sailed around Iceland last summer-2018 and also had difficulty in finding tidal information. Some of the weather-forecast site also have tidal information. We actually realised that the Icelandic boaters do not generally consider tide, mainly because there are few sailing yachts, mostly fishing boats. The longer fjords have noticeable tide, but also a thermal inshore wind may set up around mid day, depending on sun conditions.

Re: Tidal Streams for Iceland

I sailed around Iceland in 1990, long time ago. We arrived from Faeroes in Seyđisfjordur then to Akkureiry, Isafjordur, Reykjavik, Thorlakshöfn, Vestmaneyar, and then back to Faeroes. Had no info on tides. Experienced no problems at all.
