Re: Northwest Passage

This will be interesting to watch. A Flicka 20 is attempting the NWP.

Zharkova accepts that CO2 induced AGW is occurring and that the "GSM" just might give us more time. Add the AGW warming to the natural warming and we have a serious problem.
that is actually an incorrect interpretation of her dating its not what year but the number of years between events

She only " accepts the msm view superficially to garner peer review and publishment .
Btw the article you garnered your info from was not written by her but about her .

As to her 2.5℃ warming that jack even if it were true is over a 600 year timeframe.

I hope he will survive the attempt.

What I can't quite get my head around is how solo sailors pull it off. Not so much the large obstacles that would presumably show on radar, but all the small growlers, etc. that require a diligent lookout. What happens at night? Possible to anchor? I suppose this is why so few have attempted it and fewer still have completed it.

Night? I presume you mean during the hours of darkness? Want to think about that for a moment?

To quote Zharkova's latest paper:

Quote:
solar activity is heading in the next three decades (2019–2055) to a Modern grand minimum similar to Maunder one.
Quote:
This trend is anticipated to continue in the next six centuries that can lead to a further natural increase of the terrestrial temperature by more than 2.5 °C by 2600.
The article is an interview with her.

Good point. Very few "hours of darkness," and even then it apparently never gets completely dark this time of year.

That is quite interesting and implies that the effects of CO2 on climate change is just a smoke and mirrors and there is no GW.

I am slightly confused, is he using a Flicka 20 or Breskell a 51ft cold molded wooden yacht ?

The laminated wooden A frame for solar and wind is interesting:

Minimum ice extent is mid-September,

which is when boats have the best chance of slipping through,

which is also when the Autumnal Equinox occurs,

which is when the whole Earth has roughly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of night.

So I think Exile's mention of "night" isn't too far off.

I don't doubt mid-Sept. is minimum ice extent, but would have thought most attempts were made earlier due to weather, along with maximizing daylight hours perhaps. Btw, any idea on approx. distances, say btwn the 'A' and 'B' points on the map Jack posted above?

Josh, who owns the Flicka 20, has joined the crew of Breskell.
