Antarctic Peninsula Cruising Range

What would be a typical cruising distance covered for an Antarctic peninsula voyage, round trip from Punta Arenas?

Re: Antarctic Peninsula Cruising Range

Punta Arenas - Cape Horn via the channels 500 miles
Cape Horn - Deception Island 500 miles
Deception - cruising south to the Argentine Islands 250 miles

Then back again, Your mileage may vary

Hi littlechay. I hear your off to warmer places. Did you have the fisher in the Falklands? Any way for the Op, you tend to do more more motoring in the channels and penisular than in many other places. Seems to be either no wind or too much. You dont get sea breezes and such to help during the the day. Reasonably straightforward run south from Cape Horn, sit in caleta martial and watch the gribs for a decent break in the westerlys. But its not quiet so easy back to south america from the penisular, so have a good reserve left over to make sure you can lay the horn in a typical strong WNW with a strong east setting current pushing you towards south georgia. What plans have you got? Cheers Ben

Hi Ben, Yes I had the Fisher long since sold. Currently in Brazil delivering PA back south. Now working on fixing up a Trireme 35.. Tweed's World | My view of the world around me but not good at keeping it updated.

Yes to the original poster. If you have specific questions please throw them.
