Texas 200 on West Wight Potter 19

I have one or two spots on a west wight potter 19. June 10-14, 2019

This years trip starts in Port Mansfield Texas. I live in Austin.

This is a cruise for individuals who like sailing in strong winds on nearly flat water. Must not mind roughing it while camping at night. There may be some wading the boat through shallow waters near the end. Strong mosquito repellent is required. Plenty of time in camp for camaraderie with other small boaters.
More details about the trip and membership dues
The Texas 200

You can meet me in Austin, Magnolia Beach or Port Mansfield.

OP, I was looking for a ride last year but didn’t manage to find one. Unfortunately I’m doing a different sailing trip that week this year. If you survive and want to do it again next year send me a PM. Good luck and fair winds!

Looks like an amazing experience especially if you're a fan of small boats.

I reviewed the website.. what dues are you referring to?

Go to the sign up page and it will show you the cost of $40.

Note
Most people launch the boat at the starting location.
Then move their trailer to the finishing location.
Buy a ticket on the events bus back to the starting location.
The bus ticket costs 65$

The crew will only need to pay membership dues. This augments the expenses of the planning committee.

I will move the trailer and ride the Bus, while the crew get the boat ready, fish, drink beer or whatever in Port Mansfield on Sunday.

Re: Texas 200 on West Wight Potter 19

Hello Tom
My name is Andrew McHarney. I’m 57. I am familiar with the Texas 200 and have wanted to enter it. I understand the rigors it poses for boat and crew. It would be an excellent experience for a sailor like myself.
I have been sailing all my life, enjoy adventures and believe I am up to the task.
I currently sail a Compac 16 on the high desert lakes here in New Mexico.
I have ASA 101 through 103 from a sailing school in Santa Barbara. Have sailed my compac out to sea there, and have done one day charter on a Catalina 36.
In addition I am an accomplished oarsman. We built a drift boat here in Albuquerque and have taken it on various overnight excursions.
I hope it’s not to late to consider me as a crew member.
Sincerely
Andrew McHarney

Tom.
I am interested in this adventure, I don't have much time on smaller boats, but have done extensive sailing on 40+' boats, crossing the pond 3 times and sailing the east coast and Caribbean. I grew up in Corpus Christi and know the ICW well in that area. I usually do 1-2 sailing trips a year, but have not made it out the past two years, this looks like a lot of fun. I am 57 years old but in good health and ready for adventure. I live in Dallas and can meet you anywhere.
