Retired experienced Great Lakes sailor looking for blue water experience

I'm a retired Great Lakes sailor trying to decide if I want to purchase a boat more suited to bluewater sailing. I'm looking for some bluewater experience to decide if I want to go this route. I am an experienced celestial navigator, and teach the celestial, JN and N, classes for the USPS. I have two high quality metal frame marine sextants and would enjoy teaching celestial navigation in exchange for some bluewater experience.

I am retired so I can go just about anywhere, just about any time.

See my post from just now. SeaLife, comfortable well equipped ketch from Grenada. I have 50 years sailing experience, 40 in the Caribbean.
Ready to leave in a week.

Re: Retired experienced Great Lakes sailor looking for blue water experience

Hi,

I currently have a 33' Islander Wayfarer in Moss Landing. I am looking for someone to help me move the boat either up the CA coast or down the coast to Mexico. I was thinking of trying to make the Pacific Puddle Jump. I would love to learn more about celestial navigation. Let me know if you're interested for more info. Thanks!

See mypost grenada Chesapeake. In May. 43 ft endeavor ketch very well equipped. Been cruising for 41 years in the Caribbean. Be glad to teach you whatever you want. All I need is a dependable watch. We can sail more off shore or more island hopping.
I can give you boat survey and references. Would also need info from you. I am in grenada. Call me 609 405 2221

Some coastal cruising would be a great shake-down and would be fantastic in itself, but the Pacific Puddle Jump would be awesome!

Garry,
I'm at Bermuda now and planning to sail to Azores next week about Thursday and than to Spain. 46' catamaran. I have Kassen+Plath on board and a bunch of tables. May set the Sun to a "true" horizon, but will be glad to practice with a professor. If you interested send me a pm, or right to morkvan at gmail dot com
