Re: Port A to Galveston - Crew would be welcome

Eric,

I have been racing on a 40 foot Benateau for a couple of years, and anxious to get on the ocean. I would be interested if you still have room. Can I ask how long it takes to make the trip? I know it depends on wind, but roughly?

Thanks,

Doug

Hello Doug,

I apologize for the delayed reply. As much as I prefer offshore routes, I ended up motoring the ICW. It was not a bad trip. I was able to recruit one of my sons to assist and we were lucky at the locks.

I find 100 miles a day as a good estimate unless conditions are totally adverse. 150 miles from Port A to Galveston with another 30 to Baytown.

I decided to cut the trip short and try a new (to me) marina in Freeport. It is only a few miles from the gulf and seems a nice place.
