Miami to Northern Panama

Miami to Bocas del Toro, Pan.
Must have references for safety purposes only but does not need fancy qualifications. What skills do you have. I need someone with mechanical (engine) and electrical skills.
Share in food and cruising fees only. Must prove funds available to fly out of Panama and passport acceptable for countries going through valid of at least 7 months.
I plan to have at least 3 persons and possibly 4. So you would pay your share of the expenses as 1/3rd or 1/4. I have a captain with 100 ton license who is crew. (not sure if license is active).
Hope to leave around May 21st, 2016
1st leg- Miami Fl., to Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Work my way the Atlantic coast to Belize, Honduras islands etc... and working south to Northern Panama.
I expect it to take about 2 to 3 weeks depending on winds.
I plan to use a weather forecaster, and route planner, Chris Parker out of Florida. He is considered the guru of Caribbean sailing and is used by delivery captains, and cruisers and sailors. Very reliable.
Boat- Westerly 32, Fulmar sailboat, fin keel, good reputation English boat.
Installed a new Symrad Nav. System (not yet calibrated) with radar (gimbaled) including a depth sounder.
-New auto pilot.
-A new arc or tower to support 2 solar panels and inflatable dingy.
-A new wind generator with special quiet blades
-A new Ritchie bulkhead compass
-A new dodger
-Replaced most interior lights with LED lights
-A new Fortress #23 anchor.
-New EPIRB
-To keep in touch with Chris Parker
New Sat Phone
New Sony SSB receiver
Regarding Equipment:
1. liferaft for 6 persons but it has not been re-certified.
2. inflatable tender with oars.
3. new EPIRB-
4. Marine VHS with GPS and AIS receiving only, several handhelds.
5. weather reports and routing- Chris Parker.
Overall Sailing Matters:
1-I like to go the cheaper way. Anchor if possible with less fees to pay.
Message me here with your email address and I will email you asking for sailing resume, your name, address, references (3) of your skills and character (lawyer, doctor, pastor, priest, rabby, psychologist etccc- people reputable in the community).

I'm in Belize now, heading for Rio Dulce about the same time you are departing Miami. If you have room aboard, and will be putting in or welcome picking up from Livingston en route, I'd welcome reaching Panama. You can email me for more information at: lyger@protonmail.com

Thank you

I don't wish this to sound unkind but your time-frame of two to three weeks to complete this trip is extremely unrealistic. Your proposed route pits you against contrary winds and currents. My experience tells me that this trip would take 4 to 6 weeks of hard pushing at best. Have a good trip.

what is your experience, it can be made in 21 days quite easily with minimal stops but does require some motoring. I have gone both ways the other being the windward passage with stops in the bahamas, cuba, jamaica,San Andreas colombia to Bocas in less than 3 weeks.

Re: Miami to Northern Panama

Yes, I agree with what you say. I have revised the trip a bit. If going the cuba/mex way, it would be the Caymans 1st and not Rio Dulce. That was suggested by Chris Parker. Looking at Windity it looks like it would be on the beam. Also may go the Bahamas route, Windward Passage to Jamaica.
I have one crew so far and she has a captains licence for up to 100 tons. Not sure if it is active.
I would want a third person for sure.
If you are interested send me your sailing resume with references.
Other than my sailing resume that you read on my ad, I am 75 yrs. old, but in reasonably good health, am a Canadian, and a retired teacher (19 yrs) and employment counselor for the feds and the province (about 16 yrs). Longevity in my family- mom is alive at 105, dad died at 95, blood aunt died at 100. Me???who knows?
