Madeira to Caribbean later Nov 2017

Doing crossig from Madeira to Caribbean (St Martin?). leaving about Nov 25. Should take about 20 to 25 days. The boat is a 42 Sparkman and Stephens design (Tartan 43). Well founded with normal safety equipment (life raft
SSB, Excelent sails & newer rig, boat in very good conditon). Crew expected to only pay for their expenses ashore. Came across from New England to Azores
in under 15 days this summer. Looking for 1 or 2 additional crew members. Owner/Captain has done multiple ocean passages. Please contact at: saltysailor10@yahoo.com with your availability and experience.

Have schooner based in Palma de Mallorca and a Hinckley 50 yawl in Maine. Have sailed for 45 years. Usually single hand - go when and where I want. Nonetheless, being part of a crew from Madeira to the islands would be a something I'd consider.

Re: Madeira to Caribbean later Nov 2017

Greetings Skipper, I would make a great addition to your crew.

A little about me:

I have retired early to travel. I am a "blue water" sailor (Atlantic, Caribbean, Mediterranean, etc.). Most recently I have been to the Bahamas, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Florida, and now New Orleans. I live in a nice old home about 2 kilometers from the French Quarter (10 minute bike ride if you go slow). Well educated and very polite. I run 2 miles every morning to City Park and back home (ride my bike the rest of the time). Bachelors and Masters Degrees from a major university (Big 10 conference). Two daughters both finishing their PhD’s this year. Fun-loving guy and a bit of a romantic. These days you will generally find me in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals…I'm pretty casual. Love a good conversation and a glass of wine or spirits.

Some specifics:

1. I am single, a United States citizen, 61 years old, Marine Corp Officer Reserve (inactive duty), and in excellent health (currently run 2 miles each day).
2. Excellent swimmer with certified CPR and first aid training.
3. Experience working on Yanmar diesels (not a mechanic), boat electrical, and other boat maintenance stuff.
4. Good photography and videography skills (over 200,000 views of my photos on Google).
5. Excellent trip planner and navigator (lots of shallow water experience).
6. Over 2,000 NM by sailboat and 400 additional by power boat.
7. I love water sailing">blue water sailing having sailed the Atlantic and Caribbean and know my knots. My bother has a Lagoon 500 which he sails around the Caribbean and on which I have crewed. Just returned from a voyage which started in Tampa, FL, through the Florida Keys, around the Bahamas, and back to Tampa. Heaviest seas I have experienced are 3 to 5 meters; most of the time in .5 to 1.5 meter seas.
8. Master Gardener.
9. Expert fisherman. Also, I do the fish cleaning and cooking… just a good cook overall.
10. Superior general maintenance and construction skills.
11. Experienced senior leadership in food and heavy manufacturing.
12. My passport is current. Also, I have Global Entry and an international driver's license.
13. Positive attitude, easy going, and a self-starter.
14. I can cover my travel, food, and miscellaneous expenses.
15. YouTube channel: “Travel Lane”

Re: Madeira to Caribbean later Nov 2017

Hey, I'd be interested. Let me know if you still need a crew.
I'm young, but experienced sailor. Just graduated in architecture and now I'm having a gap year to travel the world. Atlantic crossing would be my first step.
