I would love some more experience, Chesapeake bay area

I am a 28 year old male trying to dive head first into the world of sailing, I have experience on small boats but have never sailed anything over 12 feet. I learned to sail in the Boy Scouts and successfully achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, I am honest, hard working, and a quick learning person with an open mind and friendly demeanor.

I live in West Virginia but traveling to Baltimore/Annapolis and surrounding areas will not be a problem. If you are willing to teach, I am willing to learn.

Thanks for your time!

Culture

If you don't know about it, one of the tools that I use to search on CF is Google.

whateversearchterm site:cruisersforum.com

in the google search bar works real well.

Look on the MeetUp app as there are numerous sailing groups to join - there's a Richmond-Deltaville meet up group, and a Deltaville group (there's a guy there who goes sailing almost every week and always has room) plus several in Annapolis.

try Parklawn Sailing Association.

www.parklawnsailingassociation.org

I am going sailing this Sunday on a recreational club sail. They also have training sails, moonlight and overnight sails. You can join maintenance days to learn repair and boat systems. Many very experienced and friendly sailors who love to teach. Plenty of chances to sail mid-size cruisers at a nominal cost. There are many good sailing clubs. Clubs are the best way to get started. Another is smaller Flying Scots on the Potomac river:

I am on Kent Island across from Annapolis. If you don't mind a road trip I'd enjoy taking you out for the day to increase your exposure , skills and experience. I sail a Catalina 42. If interested I'm sure we can work out a day this Summer / Fall.
