General Guidelines for Posting to the Crew Positions Forum

General Guidelines for Posting to the Crew Positions Forum

  • First of all, Please Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word In Your Title.

  • Second, this is a forum, not a texting platform. Our guidelines call for proper use of sentence structure, grammar and paragraphs. It makes things more professional, and you will get better responses.

In an attempt to make this Forum more user friendly, we are instituting the Prefix Feature, a method for better organizing posts. When members compose a new thread for inclusion in this Forum, they will have to select either the Crew Wanted: or the Crew Available: prefix so that the post is already sorted into its relevant category.

Members who read this Forum will be able to quickly sift all of the Crew Wanted: posts from the Crew Available: posts by clicking on the box displaying (any prefix) at the top of the list of threads, choosing which one they want and clicking on it. This will return a list of all of the threads which have been prefixed with that choice (Crew Wanted or Crew Available). It will no longer be necessary to scroll through all of the posts to find the ones you want.

In addition, we will no longer keep old threads that are of no value - if someone was looking for crew in 2007 for a cruise that fall, there is no point in keeping the post available for viewing. The Crew Positions Archive is a storehouse for old Crew Position postings past a certain age - sixty days. Site Staff will move aging threads out of the active list of threads into the Archive on a regular basis.

If you have a post that is older than sixty days but which is still relevant, you will have to re-post the information. For example, if someone knows he has a delivery scheduled for a date six months away and wants to line up crew, the ad will be moved to the Archive before the planned delivery. So, if that person is still looking for crew, it will be necessary to check the post regularly to be sure it is still in public view. If it is gone, and the person still wants the information posted, it will be necessary to compose a new thread and submit it.

A final word or two of advice: DO NOT post your email address without editing it to something like "fred AT yahoo DOT com". In it's original format it can be harvested by unscrupulous operators and sold to spammers. Also, DO NOT post your phone number for the world to see. Use our Private Messaging (PM) feature to communicate with other members.
