Gay male crew member
Hi all,
Im a young gay South African currently running a boutique hotel and private residence, I do everything around the house, cooking cleaning and driving the boss around ect.
I would really like to work for a gay captain or a gay friendly captain.

Hi.
Search for a member called PBMaise on the forum. As far as I remember he ran something geared towards that community in the Philippines.
Good luck.

Re: Gay male crew member
I'm not sure, but it looks like you're looking for a job.
If so, I'd suggest finding a crew management company, catering to superyachts. There aren't many folks on this forum "Hiring", and based on your post, I'd guess you should also look into getting some marine qualifications.
Start with a basic STCW, then you can look for positions on superyachts.
https://www.yachting-pages.com/conte...acht-jobs.html
I can't see how your sexual orientation would matter. It's not a "qualification" for a job. Get your creds, and make some applications. I doubt you'll find too much resistance these days, based on your being gay. Be clean, polite, well spoken, and considerate, and you'll be fine. You're already in the hospitality business, so you know how these things work.
Good luck.
Paul.

Re: Gay male crew member
Hi Scoobyroo and welcome.
A couple of questions. First are you looking for a paid position or just want to crew to build experience? Also, are you looking for position on a sail, power, large or small?
This will help to focus on the right areas for your search.

Sorry I can't give you specific details but I know there are websites and agencies that deal with jobs on large yachts.
However without experience on yachts you may have to start at the bottom at very low wages unless you have some skill set that's really in demand like gourmet chef.

And you will almost certainly require at least maritime industry Basic Safety Training qualifications.
