Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

60 yr old wht male. Will be leaving 4 week of January 2016 from Clearwater Fl, heading south stopping along the way to see the sights, as We sail along our way to the Keys, and if all goes well on to the Bahamas . Would like to have someone on board to help crew, especially for the over night passages and of course safety. I would like to hear from you and your thoughts about going on this trip. Aboard 44 CSY sloop.
Thanks and hope to hear from you.
Bob

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

So you are thinking about four weeks from Clearwater to the Keys? What are your plans as far as the Bahamas?

Can you tell us a little bit more about your typical day to day?

Thanks!

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

Ok I dont know how to edit my post
I Will be leaving 4th week of January 2016 from Clearwater Fl, to go south
around the 26th of Jan.
With no set time limit of where to or when, it is a sail boat?
The weather will determine when and if we go on to the Bahamas

I'm a 60 year old sailor also. I have made the trip to the keys a few times but it has been a few years. I'm in Tampa and would like to stop by and talk to you about the trip if nothing else. Let me know how to get in touch with you by email if interested. You can contact me at markjackson393@ yahoo.com.

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

Ahoy Carambo46, As an 80 YO, I have made the trip a couple of times myself when sailing out of St Pete. How do you plan on going to Key West? Via the ICW to Ft Myers and out side from there, or outside to the Dry Tortugas to KW. Tempting trip. Both ways are good. Bad timing for Me, but can help with route planning. If you want any help with suggestions, I am up here in the Puget Sound and if any senior wants a change in scenery over the hot summer months, I hope to start sailing around 1 May. Have one cruise planned for last of July (Passport Req'd). I can be reached at edmerta@comcast.net. This goes for any spry senior that might be interested. Talk is cheap. Fair Wind and Calm Seas.

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

Sent you a private message. Do that route about twice a year. Will be cruising the Fl Gulf Coast from 17-27 Jan on our Leopard 46 and then returning home to Dunedin, otherwise would be interested in tagging along. Might be able to get my liberty card around mid-Feb for a week. Heading back out and to the Keys mid-March.

I used to live in SW FL, this is a great cruising route if you take your time (as it sounds like the OP plans to). I think there is an existing thread or two already about this route.

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

Bob,

Just joined this Forum to see about gaining some Florida sailing experience and saw your posting. Long-time Canadian sailor, 57 yrs, with plus 40 plus years sailing expereince and boat ownership. Sailing exp offshore East and West coasts, Mexico and East coast Africa. Can send resume. Could be available 2-4 weeks Late Jan-Feb. Lots of Navigation, chart work, off-shore and boat handy. Can send resume if you are still seeking crew. Cheers, Barry.

Re: Clearwater,Fl .. south to the keys

Hi
I also hope I am not too late. If I am please consider me for any future needs. I have crewed some but still a beginner. I work hard and am easy to get along with. I am 58 and have references.
Thank you
Audrey
