Re: Cape Town to Florida on 52' Grainger Cat

Just read your request for crew from a few days ago. My name is Scott and I am an offshore engineer with some time on my hands. I have sailed all my life in one form or another and a few years ago spent 2.5 yrs sailing with my family on our 63ft sloop. I am a qualified Yachtmaster, easy going and very trustworthy. Would be interested to hear more if the vacancy still exists.

Hi Scott. I haven't made crew decisions yet, so yes still open. I'm waiting to firm up departure dates. I'm waiting on a date from the sail loft, to commit to a delivery. They've finished the sail design and we secured a build slot 2 months ago, but they haven't confirmed a date yet.

This is not a paid position. You'll have to get yourself to Cape Town and handle your return flight from either Brazil, the Caribbean or Florida. I'll cover any boat and passage related expenses. I can cover your food expenses if you are unable. The trip is expected to take upwards of 2 months, from late May to late July (with short stops at St Helena, Ascension, Brazil and some Caribbean islands).
Hey Capt.

Has this trip happened yet? I'm in Cape Town looking for this exact way to get back home to Florida! Would love to hear about the journey or better yet be apart of it!

Regards,
Connor

I am interested. Wondering how your build out and shakedown is coming. Experienced in mono and multihull sailing vessels, and I have blue water and Pacific transpac crossing experience. Many years of sailing as USCG licensed Ocean Operator, power, mono and multihull sailing, in Hawaiian islands. My strengths are in Navigation and Weather, and I have experience avoiding Tropical storm systems. Also EMT and Scuba Instructor experience. Live in the inland NW, need to get out in big water regularly. Heading to Hawaii and S Pacific next month, probably back by December. Thank You, Mike.
