CA to HI - anyone up for an adventure?

While the prefix is crew wanted, I am actually looking for a boat and crew to possibly follow an ocean rowing boat from California to Hawaii starting around the last week of May 2019 out of Ventura, CA. I'll be doing all the hard work because I am the one rowing, but looking for someone to follow and become part of the adventure across the Pacific. I'll be getting video for a potential documentary and anyone going along would be part of that as well. It is a solo row which will take around 90 days, and yes you will likely have to circle a bit just to stay anywhere near me.

You won't have to carry any of my gear/food on board as I have to be self sufficient if I want to go for that world record. Overall looking for someone to be a support boat if necessary and yell at me/make me laugh when I need it. Oh and of course you get to be part of the adventure as well.

If anyone is interested in more details please let me know. Thanks!

Dang! For years I have been wanting something like this to come along. Very unfortunate that I am up to my eyeballs in land-based commitments.

Are you Mary Rose? Why Ventura? Monterey would be shorter and a better angle. I think it would be good for the support crew to know the rules regarding the world record. Are you publishing this elsewhere? Christian Williams has a YT channel and is active in SoCal sailing. He's solo sailed to HI several times. He is a writer retired from a big name newspaper - the NY Times, I think - and may be one who can help put it together for you.

All I can offer at this time is Best Wishes and go get it!

Re: CA to HI - anyone up for an adventure?

Thanks Richard5! Yes this is Mary. Going out to give it a shot

The support crew really can't help me unless I am really in trouble, but they can be incredible motivation. Commanders are providing weather routing but the support boat can be part of that process as well as my job is to row, so to have someone helping with the info coming through would be awesome. Helping with land based communications to promote would also be ideal.

Monterey is actually another option. I have some memories of being sucked back into the bay from last time I was there - row out, rest, get sucked back in - but of course that is all timing on when to leave. Commanders should be able to help with that.

Thanks for the info on Christian's YT channel! I'll see if I can get in contact him
