Re: ARC 2019

Anyway, thank you for your request an posting the estimated costs. I am not judging the amount. even 4k are not expensive if you look at the sailing duration and adventure compared to a bare foot charter fee for the same amount of time - without a ocean passage and heavy entertainment, sailing courses etc. provided for the crews. It is a whole package. Cats are chartered for 3..8k/week, 8 weeks would summ up to 40k in average.

Good to know what volontary crew are expected and willing to contribute for an ARC ocean experience. The ARC fee for a Cat and crew is alone around 2.000€. Marina costs, fuel and eating out add up too.

I am curious, what other captains request as cost contributions from their crews for the ARC.

Re: ARC 2019

There is no fixed formula how much one needs to contribute. IT really depends on who needs who the most, it is a supply and demand situation.

European and US owners have a different mindset. Leisure cruising often expects contribution and delivery voyage often crew gets paid or at least for a free trip.

Thanks everyone. We have found a family to join us. They were going to join a charter monohull but prefer the cat for the kids. They will also be able to spend more time on board with us and overall spend less so everyone is delighted. We are all really excited and it will be a fantastic family experience. Can’t wait!

Re: ARC 2019

Hi Sander. Are all the beds full for the crossing? My husband and I would like to crew on a Lagoon before purchasing. We have own a couple monohulls and sailed across the pacific and the Atlantic with our two kids (who are now in their 20s). Email me if you have a berth for the two of us for fall 2019 Atlantic passage. We are awesome cooks, shoppers, home schoolers and easy to get along with.
