Warning: Insecurity in Mayotte

Warning-Insecurity in Mayotte (West Indian Ocean) ~ Sail World
Goto:
Sail-World.com : Warning-Insecurity in Mayotte (West Indian Ocean)

“... Mayotte is located at the northern end of the Mozambique Channel in the Indian Ocean, between northern Madagascar and northern Mozambique. The territory is geographically part of the Comoro Islands, but has been politically separate since the 1970s...

... Mayotte is not a safe place. It has become a dangerous destination which must be avoided. Should you still need to stop in Mayotte, be sure to chain and lock everything. In addition, watches will be required at night...”

Re: Warning: Insecurity in Mayotte

Hi Gord May

I have been approached to project manage a large refit on a vessel located in Mayotte. I would be greatful if you could share any information and literature you might have that will prepare me for this possibly epic task. I'm familiar with Africa, having travelled in 24 countries and understand the possible complications that might ensue.

Kind regards
ST

Try these links. See nothing more recent that 2011 from cruisers but seems to be no worse than many poor, third world countries for the moment.
