Re: At Least One More Sailor Dead at Hands of Pirates

ANY charity has the obligation of only giving 1 percent of the collected monies to the souls being collected for. even un.
dont ever believe ALL monies collected go to the deserving--most goes to the beautiful offices and administrators pockets.
i learned this as a child being a nice soul i collected for a charity only to find my efforts went into the coffers for the administrators..
i also learned in very young years that the indian ocean was a highly pirated area. that6 was decades ago. why tf are folks thinking is a safe place to cruise when we knew in the 1960s and 1950s that it wasnt?????
gotta wonder how updated some folks really are.
rosey colored spectacles?????
i feel badly for those caught-- i hope no one else gets caught but i think reality will prove otherwise...

IMO, the misplaced faith of millions for Jihad. If you study the religion you will see they pay the dhimmitude tax or perish.
Taking of prisoners and ransom payments is an extension of this.

Which is why I consider ALL charities to be scams. I give directly, as in food directly to a homeless person. We have a drive every year for a terminal childrens orphanage (Parents dumped kids on their doorstep that have terminal illnesses, very sad place, except for the happy kids that were there) 100% of the donations are given directly to the kids in the form of TV's, DVD players, toys, clothes, personal items, and for the older kids a $100 shopping spree that grew to over $500 when the stores found out what we were doing. Maybe it wasn't the starving kids in Somalia, but they are just as worthy. We see very few of the same faces year to year.

Re: At Least One More Sailor Dead at Hands of Pirates

charity begins at home. why not fix the problems within ones own nation before addressing those in other nations
i do one on one with needy folks. i cannot see how folks have so much need around them and not help at home first.

My brother had been sending thousands of $$s to the "christen childrens network"he was told year after year that his money was sending a child to school and feeding him..they would send photos of a child growing stronger every year...I told him it was fake....well that got the wheels rolling in his head as he hates to be made a fool of,so he contacts the powers that be and told them he wanted to meet his "adopted son".. they told him after much BS that the child had died and would he consider "adopting anouther child..needless to say...if I dont see my money working I have a problem..they did a audit of the Shriners burn center for children and came back and said that less than 10% of donations went to the hospital..most went to the lodge to stock the liquor cabinet I bet..charitys are a good way to get rich from what Ive seen...maybe the pirates should start a non- profit, then the killing will stop..

Let's get back to the original topic. Charities and scams are not germane to the discussion here.

Thank you.

Re: At Least One More Sailor Dead at Hands of Pirates

Once again, we look at the flower and not the root. And, the root is that we are dealing with Third World People who live in rampant anarchy and operate their lives under the laws of survival of the fittest. This heinous form of piracy could be stopped immediately if there were a concerted effort by several nations to police these areas and to utilize deadly force on any/all perpetrators. This, we know, will not happen since we must atone for our civilized behaviour by being sympathetic to those downtrodden who are not civilized and live by the law of the jungle. And, how can reasonably intelligent people believe that they will somehow be immune to these atrocities when transiting these areas when so many have suffered the worst fate? This, indeed, is a sad and tragic state of affairs. Best, Ron

What?!

Boats, are you suggesting people being responsible for themselves and their decisions? Perish the thought.

Seriously, my fear is that piracy starts to spread to other parts of the world. Unless action is taken by the world nations to stop it, others will see unprotected boats and ships as easy prey.
