Maybe you should read about their trip thru the Northwest Passage!

Re: Vancouver To Cabo San Lucas During Hurricane Season

It's not completely unheard of to head down during that time of year, and we listen to boats that have done it almost every year on the HF Radio nets. We left San Diego on in early August and had a great down wind sail to Cabo then kept going to Mazatlan. We actually had better sailing on that trip than two other Nov 1st trips...but with's always a game of luck.

Hurricanes don't sneak up on you and our plan was just to turn around and go back North up Baja if we saw something that threatened us. We didn't so we just kept on sailing!

A Marina in La Paz or Mazatlan would be safe places if a hurricane was to hit. The Boats that were in Marina's in La Paz did quote will last year when the biggest hurricane in Baja history hit La Paz.

Re: Vancouver To Cabo San Lucas During Hurricane Season

Hi all,

thanks for the good advices. I decided to keep the boat in the area around san fransico from sep to Jan and keep on sailing in january. That way I can enjoy the summer and not have to stress my three month of sailing. Than keep sailing in jan two month and not have to worry about hurricane. Thanks for helping me decide!

This document is great if anyone is looking for the best deal around SF
