Like they make you have SP tables onboard if you are leaving your country. And how do they know that you are going to sail SP? Unless you are a SP country already in which case you should have the tables onboard anyway (for your country, but why for any other location?).

Or am I mixing things up?

PS If you want to be Category 1 then it makes sense your equipment is top spec to this Category. We are category 558888882769, somehow we made it across SP without (printed) tables (but with good understanding of how the tides work and how to predict them without tables).

OMG I am such an idiont did not even think of the obvious. I was just trying to do it from home online. Thanks for that sage advice.

From memory, the folks at the British Admiralty publish tide tables world-wide at their usual rapacious prices. Your local chart agent should be able to source them for you.

What I was suggesting was to use one of the free tide prediction programs to print out enough tables to satisfy your local Cat One nazi inspector (how's that for non-PC!)? Shouldn't be too hard!

Hang in there! Other places are easier to escape from than NZed!

Thanks for all that help. The info provided will certainly help us gather info as and when required.

I am sillier than I think...just rechecked Cat1 requirements due to post that questioned carrying all the tables aboard. And doh that requirement is for Cat 4 and 5 not Cat1. I am due for a new brain I think.

But hey all is not lost now I know the best spots online for free tide tables
