South of Ensenada

BEWARE! of Rocas Soledad, south of Punta Banda if coast hopping south.Just before Puerto San Thomas, these above highwater rocks do not show on most charts, paper or electronic. On Navionics ,only in text wording(if you zoom in),no color contour shown in shallow water or land mass, nothing!Only "Mapquest"charts actually shows hard objects above water.Charlies charts do show them.

You're referring to Puerto Santo Tomás, right?

Is it "just before" heading north, or south?

how far out to sea are these rocks and exactly where are they on your gps--a position would help others a lot.....

Sorry,I should have been more specific,I'm sure some know and some don't,GPS position is; (approx.,as I am taking it from Navionics, not there at this time, and failed to make note when I was). 31deg.33 min. N 116deg.43min.W,about 1 mile off Punta Santo Tomas,(at entry to Puerto Santo Tomas)15 miles south of Punta Banda.I'm presently anchored at Man O War Cove,Mag. Bay, loving the sunshine, and reliable internet.

highseas,

I loved that anchorage. If you have a TV set aboard, you can get 2 VHF channels on it from their school's satellite downconverter. We watched "Hallmark Hall of Fame" in English one night back in 1993. Got my moniker "senormechanico" there after fixing all manner of electronic stuff for villagers. I did it for free, but most of them insisted on paying with lobster! If "ninny" is still there with the tienda, tell him Senormechanico says hi.

Sorry for the thread drift.
