Sound Advice: Bahamas to Hawaii

ok i'm posting this mainly because i've greatly appreciated the advice you've all given so far and the help it has been on my decission making process. so i made it to hawaii and ave been here since august now, living and loving everymoment of it.

My wife and I have found the boat of our dreams, ( will ask more in another thread) and we are ready to put the money down and make an offer. Problem is that the boat is in the Bahamas.

So i'mposting this forum for ideas regarding the sail from the bahamas to hawaii, time frames, known routes, good destinations and stops. best place to refit for the pacific leg. recomended gear ,readings ,anything that could help.Timeframes? including information on the panama canal crossing.

Some additional info. I have family in tampa bay. and would more than likely sail from bahamas to tampa. then do the gulf crossing. and down mexico through panama then over to hawaii. will be recruiting my brothers to help with this. the boat is a 30 foot cat.

Thanks alot everyone.
sean.
