Shipping a yacht from Sydney to Tahiti

Hi there,
We're looking into the option of shipping our 36 foot ketch from Sydney to Tahiti.
We're familiar with the setup from the Caribbean to the UK but haven't heard of anyone doing this over here.
Does anyone have any experience or advice with this?
Any advice much appreciated.

No, but I am sure there will be plenty of applicants. Another poster here is doing the same trip and various crew are looking for positions on boats sailing "from Oz to wherever."

Hi there,

While in Borabora, we met an Australian boat called New Morning, the people had sailed her from Moreton Bay to Tahiti, with two children aboard. If the OP has the time and can clew him/herself up to the determination, this delivery would add lots of *experience* and satisfaction.... ....And it is a long upwind journey. But worthy of consideration. There are many routes to consider, and this is not a cut and dried deal.

Sad to say there is only limited trade between Oz and Tahiti so shipping isn't an option.
Sailing? Head east from NZ and then hang a left when you think you can lay Tahiti... allow about 40 days....
Of course there are other options but shipping probably isn't amongst them...

Well, at least not economical shipping. And it would probably take longer than sailing as well since, as you said, very little direct shipping. IF you can find a shipping line agreeable, your boat is going to take the LONG way around. Which will increase your chances of damage. Just my .02
