Seasons storm warnings.

The Weather Guru's are predicting approx. 9 NAMED Tropical cyclones for this season. The official season has now begun. The area of Fiji, Tonga etc is expected to be the most volnerable, but with our long cycle weather pattern being between La Ninia and El Ninio (spell??) the chance of cyclones dropping down into lower lattitudes and reaching NZ is higher than normal. This exact same weather pattern is what led to our famouse "Waihene" storm(cylcone Gazzelle) and Cyclone Bola.

The gurus for the Atlantic basin are Dr’s William M. Gray and Philip J. Klotzbach, as detailed at: Dr. Gray's Tropical Storm Forecast page
http://tropical.atmos.colostate.edu/forecasts/

Who are the Pacific basin Guru’s, and where can we view their predictions?

Thanks,
Gord

Alan,
Having just come through the worst cyclone season (Atlantic) in recorded history, I want to wish you all of the best ... may they stay far, far away from you & yours.
Having said that ... if our "gurus" predicted only 9 named storms for 2006 ... I would buy a magnum of Dom Perignon and celebrate like you wouldn't believe!!!!!!!!
