san juans this weekend

was thinking of taking off out of sydney for a few days heading over to the san juan islands. being that its the may long weekend here in bc just wondering what i should expect over there. will it be crazy busy? if heading over from sydney what would be your recommended destinations? thanks

Not sure it'll be crazy over here til next weekend. Sucia is a great spot and a short trip. Then onto many other spots, Roche or Friday harbor for amenities

Late to answer, but first, it's "Sidney", so as not to be confused with the somewhat larger city in Australia.

But to get to the point, there are more cruising grounds in the Gulf Islands, and you don't need to clear U.S. Customs there, which you will if you come into the San Juans (at Roche Harbor). But yes, Sucia is very nice, as is Matia, and there are some spots on the East side of Orcas, of which Doe Island is my fave.
