I plan to be there, the S/V TRIX and most likely single-handing.

I will copy this thread just before I take off and try to hail you on 67. Do we want to raft up or just meet on the island? I think the picnic tables might be the best option if one of the early guys grabs one. What do you guys think?
I guess we could just commender a area and chase everyone else off- that flag might do the trick

Raft up?

Speaking for myself, I can go for it. July is a fairly calm month as the weather goes, usually light winds. But the tides will be extreme that week.

As it turns out, I'll be at Sucia Island Fourth of July weekend and the following weekend.

S/V Trust Me, but I'm not real good about leaving on the VHF. The boat comes with a short red kayak and longer blue and black folding kayak. If you see that combination, that's me. Avon inflatable with Yamy 5 hp dinghy too.

Still Raining, is your boat in the water yet???????

Can anybody tell me where the good crabbing is located in the waters around the Island? Pretty please. I need all the help I can get. TIA.

Hey John, we may make it up to Sucia this weekend too. We'll look you up if we get that far north. Crab season opens tomorrow for most areas, but not area 7 which includes all of the San Juans. Your best bet for crabbing close to there is the other side of deception pass. We have good luck using chicken parts in small bait cages along with, believe it or not, a can of cat food with a few holes punched in them!

OK thanks. It was an Everett Sailor who mentioned to me that the season is starting.

When does area 7 open?

Definitely call me if you get to Sucia.

Janet and I will be there probably by the tenth.

Look for the Dragonfly trimaran with a couple of inflatable kayaks, one blue and one orangeish.

We'll most likely be able to supply a wi fi signal to the anchorage.

We're looking forward to a bunch of visiting with everyone.

Barring something crazy coming up, we'll be in Sucia by tomorrow mid-afternoon! We made great time up to Hope Is today. Got the crab pot soaking... Two biggies so far! We're on "Lehe Paine" with a big blue tandem kayak and a solo orange kayak on deck.

Smile Idora on schedule

The boat is ready and we will head north the 5th or 6th and work our way up to Sucia by the 12th.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as are there. Look for a white Ingrid with lots of bright work. We will monitor 67A.

Cheers,

Todd
