San Diego to Hawaii 2010

Aloha!

Looking to sail from San Diego to Hawaii in about 3 to 4 months...October/November 2010. Anybody going around this time? Would love to crew. Not extremely experienced but I do have some sailing experience around my belt. Currently live on a boat, myself. Please send any advice you can offer. I am open to it. Like, what time of year is good to go, what trades or skills should I develop or focus on, etc. Look forward to your comments!

Aloha,

Mik

Hurricane season?

Is your target date not during the Eastern North Pacific hurricane season?

Sept is as late as I would depart the west coast. Most of the races are June/July to take advantage of the north pacific high. You do have to keep an eye out for hurricanes but there are normaly only a few that reach as far north as Hawaii. We tend to get them later in the season (Sept Iniki and Ewa). Check out the Pacific Cup Web site they also have a good book that you can find at west marine about prepairng for the Pac Cup

hey if you are looking to leave late august from san diego, to hawaii, i have a few days sailing experience. not the experience required to make the journey but defnitely enough to help if you find someone else who is even more experienced. I can throw down towards all expenses, am easy to get along with, hard working, and easy learning. If there will be space i want in!
