Question Sailing from Hawaii to Victoria, BC

Hello all,

I'm planning a cruise for 2005-2006 that includes Hawaii back to Victoria, BC (my home port) at the end of the trip. The leg would be sailed in the June - July timeframe.

I've read Jimmy Cornell and other guides and so have a "general" idea of the course to follow and the what to expect. But, I haven't had a chance to talk to many people that have actually sailed the leg.

Would anyone out there be willing to share their experience via email or via the phone. I would really appreciate the insight - Thank you.

HI to BC

I haven't done it myself, but a close friend just did it last June.

What he's told me is that they had to do a hard beat Northward to 145 degrees N. Then tacked off straight into Seattle. He said the weather was hot and sunny until they got into the inland waters. Where it rained on them the last 2 days.

He enjoyed the night watches the most because it was clear and cooler.

BTW it took them 16 days on a 60 footer.

I know a few people whom done it. One of the most experienced may be Tony Gooch a real Circumnavigator from Victoria, look him up in the Phonebook.

Will do this leg myself (Homeport Victoria) in a couple of years when I head home providing I get the Boat I am presently working on buying in St. Maarten. Man its hot down here, cant wait till I get going singlehand to Panama.

By for now and good Luck
Karl
