Close to the equator you are usually safe but as others have said there is still a chance for a stray intense tropical low. Remember, everyone thought Grenada was safe from Hurricanes until Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

The other thing to realise is that your insurance may be void within certain latitude ranges in certain months due to the risk of TRS. Best to check what your policy says.
