Oregon Storage/Moorage

Hello:

I'm looking to put my boat on the hard in Oregon. From October of 07 till May of 08. Currently looking at Astoria as a good place to keep the boat and then to bring her down in the coast at the begining of May. Any ideas or locations that people could recommend anywhere on the Oregon coast. Can't keep it in Washington b/c they'll want alot of tax money.

Just a rumor that I heard but I think Astoria has a new yard.
Hope someone from that area can confirm.

Charlie...The Coos Bay/ Charleston areas have good, plentiful, and inexpensive yards.
Re the Washington tax situation, I believe it has changed, for the better. New reg's were signed in April, and go into effect in July, giving residents and non-residents 12 months, instead of the current 6, before the tax man cometh.
Perhaps you can call a decent brokerage and confirm...

I'll investigate. Problem is that the boat is owned by an S corp and Washington hasn't been very generous to corps.

I have been looking at the Columbia River as a next river-run. Google Earth shows a lot of marinas and boat storage facilities. Check it out and let me know, I am seriously considering moving from Key West.

Charlie, Astoria has made great gains ion being small boat friendly. Give them a call. There is also my favorite gear shop in the world about a block away. It is exposed to the wind, and out in the open. But no doubt secure and resonable

Hi guys:

This is an old Post. I ended up storing my boat at the dry storage at the Port of Astoria for around less than $150 a month. It was a really good value. There was a storm that year that really blew the hell out of Astoria hitting it wwiht 100mph winds. The front page of the paper had a picture of turned over boats taken from within 50 feet of my boat. Ohana came thru without a problem though.

CHARLIE, sounds like a good location for boat strorage, how long is your boat, or how much do they charge per foot?

Can;t find the receipts but my boat is 41' long. The in and out prices were quite reasonable too. Nice folk who worked there too.
