One More Adventure on Dad

My Father was living his dream cruising down the west coast of Mexico towards Panama when God called him home last June. He will always be my best friend. I am 37 and have lived a pretty eventfull life. When I think back it seems that every adventure I have been on had my Dad leading the way. I will go on one more with him this January when I sail his 36' union back up the coast from Puerto Madero to San Diego. I am looking forward to the trip and think it is a fitting way for me to say goodbye.
If any of you have any advice or tips for me I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance

The loss of a loved one is always painful and emotional draining.
You were most fortunate to have such a rewarding relationship, enjoying the ocean.
Whenever you think of him, picture him on that trip south, broad grin on his face, his favorite drink (of some sort ) in his hand, and let it lift to how lucky you were to have him.
Remember, you are in that picture with him, and thank our creator for that privilege.
As sailors, we all recognise that smile, and share your loss.

Condolences on your loss. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate a life; provide a period for remembrance, reflection, privately grieve and recover, than the trip you intend. I would have a cd of his favorite songs and a bottle of his favorite drink in hand (Moderation in the latter ofcourse) and sing loudly to the wind and cry until I was renewed. So many items onboard will remind you of his traits and they will become catalysts of other non sailing memories.

I wish you a joyous and safe trip not just the sailing part.
