Oceanside or Dana Point?

San Diego Sailors,

Making my first trip to Catalina the first week in September and am considering whether to stop on the way up at Oceanside or Dana Point. Which is a better harbor to stop at? Accessiblilty of moorings/slips? Day life? Night life? I am not committed to stopping on the way up, but will likely need to refuel my 6hp outboard. Thoughts? Thanks

Despite having had a slip for over 10 years in Oceanside I would spend my time in Dana Point. The guest slips are much better, there wind is more consistent, better selection of restaurants and bars and finally there is a Ralph's within walking distance.

Oh, one more thing. The ladies that run the Oceanside Harbor Masters office treat slip holders and visitors like crap.

Lots of good restaurants. Good showers. Trader Joe's close by too.
