New Marina Development in China
A new marina development in Dalian, China is nearing completion. Starbay Yacht Club, which opened in the autumn of 2006, already has 80 slips with a total capacity for 270.
Owned by the Chinese government ,and built by Grand Leisure Marina Development Company of Shanghai, Starbay is one of the first of many marinas that will be completed soon in China. Steve Xie, Grand Leisure president, says "Pleasure boating is just catching on in China," he said. "This is a young market with enormous potential." When completed, Starbay Square, the larger commercial center of which the marina is a part, will feature 10 high-rise office buildings, a stock market, exhibition hall, museum and luxury hotel. Sounds like a place for me to investigate?!!
![]() I do have a "deep" great interest in China. Especially North China. I know where Dalian, China is. It is not too far from North Korea. ![]()

China Sea
Just came back from Southern China three weeks ago (By plane not boat) saw several small marinas with some 30 and 40 foot sailboats in the Jiulong area. Was surprised nothing there 5 years ago.

Does anyone know of any other marinas in North China? I'm trying to find out more info about keeping a sailboat in China for a year, but it seems like as soon as you venture north in China, you rapidly run our of choices of where to keep your boat.
