Need help finding Denatured Alcohol in Mex

Hey guys n gals,
longtime listener/first time caller

Sailed from L.A. to La Paz last season & had no problem finding denatured alcohol for my stove in San Jose Del Cabo. But now I'm in La Paz and can't for the life of me track any down. No body in the stores seems to even know what I'm talking about.
In spanish it is 'Alcohol Industracion' if I'm not mistaken.

Any help tracking it down or suggested alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

try methyl hydrate, normally used as a paint thinner, and found almost anywhere paints are sold, and ofter cheaper than stove alcohol.

Try referring to two types of alcohol: Ethanol (drinking alcohol); the denatured kind is NOT drinkable. Methanol (non-drinkable iso-propyl alcohol/rubbing alcohol), can be used as an alternate. Worst case scenario...pharmacies carry rubbing alcohol, but it is pricier; very flammable. Good luck!

go to the liquor store and ask for Atsa alcohol 96..The label will read" alcohol puro de cana para todos los usos" You can also drink it but I wouldnt! It is the cheapest thing that they have and cost about $3.00 for a fifth! Atsa is the brand name, there may be others..good luck

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions. At the teknav: how are the fumes from burning thinner? smell, toxicity, etc.?

Hey tropicalescape, for $3.00 a 1/5 I may may have to try it. Should cut my cruising budget in half
