That is a long way from anywhere; hope they stay afloat long enough...

Re: MAYDAY...
Wow, that's a bummer.
They sound very resourceful, I think it's going to turn out OK. I wish them well.

Re: MAYDAY...
A post he made in May...
Hello Facebook Friends! I am looking for one or two people that wants to come sailing for a few months, or longer, leaving Panama City somewhere around first or second week of June, plan is to spend a week around Las Perlas islands off Panama before sailing 3500nm ~ approx 3-4 weeks to the Gambier islands in French Polynesia...exploring around Gambier before sailing north to the Marquesas and later to the Touamoutus!
Hiking, Kitesurfing, fishing and diving as much as possible 😀
My boat Restless is well set up with two cabins, wind steering, watermaker and all the mod cons for extensive cruising!
Feel fee to share

Re: MAYDAY...
He does have a liferaft and a dinghy in case it gets to too much, and he seems well-prepared. It just goes to show that these things can happen to anyone.

I'm hoping, thinking along the same lines, seems smart, the type that can figure out things and keep it together.
Hope weather holds for them

Re: MAYDAY...
Yeah. Go Twitter, who needs an EPIRB anymore!
Maybe they can plug it. 5200 out of the gun can plug most gaps when you are able to dive on her and work it in from the outside.
But I think there is no haulout in the Marquesas and it is sort of upwindish from the Gambiers.
They should be going to Papeete instead - easier angle and certain boatyard.
Wellwell. Fingers crossed.

Re: MAYDAY...
So I assume they never made it to the Gambiers. They were likely on the route from Panama.

Note to self:
When crossing an ocean, bring along two large tubes of 3M 5200 for the caulking gun and some rubberized cloth.... oh wait, my wetsuits will work.
I'm glad to hear they stopped the leak. MacGyver onboard..... not Redford.
