PV marinas and anchoring

There are four marinas in the PV area. Marina Vallarta in town is older and fairly run down. Usually a few 30 -40 ft slips available. Nuevo Vallarta is being rebuilt and some sections are done. I believe that they have slips available. Paradise Village is fairly tight on slips but usually can find one for a mid-small size boat. La Cruz which is the farthest out of town, have many open slips. It is new and very nice. The only anchorage for extended times is outside the marina at La Cruz. I have anchored for a few days at a time at Punta Mita.

I have been in PV for 3 years this time and love it. Great conditions and nice folks.

thanks for the reply, what can you tell me about the anchorage? is it full most of the time and is it suitable for a 3 to 4 week stay? the reason I am asking is I have family coming down and would like to be in puerto vallarta. Getting a slip is not out of the question if there is one available, just looking into options. cheers limmer

The anchorage is good sized, maybe 30 - 40 boats at times. SHould always be room, just further from the dingy dock. It is fairly open and if there is a south swell (rare in the winter) it can be a bit rolly.
