LA to Bellingham

I am looking at a Dufour 560 in California and was wondering if anyone has done the trip from LA to Bellingham? What is the best time of the year and best route etc?

Anytime. Just load the truck and go.
If you want to sail, now through September has the most settled weather, but the Pacific high has already set up in its summer position and the wind will be on the nose. Lots of bashing and motoring.
