Kiwiville - Cruising Guides

Specifically aimed at Wheels and Seafox but anyone is free to add their tuppence ha'penny worth.

Guys, we have been talking about the Marlborough Sounds. Anyone have any good recommendations for cruising guides ? I already have a number of NZ guides covering North Island and Fjordland but other than a brief mention in 'South Pacific Anchorages" nothing that cover the MSs.

Cheers

Andrew

The best one for the Sounds is the New Zealand Cruising Guide, Central Area by Keith Murray & Baron Ralph Von Kohorn. Pub by Steven William Publications Wellington. 295mm X 208mm, 232 pages.
contents; General, Cape Palliser to Cape Terawhiti and Cook Strait, Ohau Point to Kapiti, Port Underwood to Tory Channel Entrance, Tory Channel, Grove Arm, Inner Queen Charlotte Sound, Outer Queen Charlotte Sound, Cape Jackson to Pelorus Sound, Pelourus X 4, Admiralty bay and southern d'Urville Island, Tasman Bay X 2, Golden Bay, Appendix Radio Frequencies and schedules, Index.

there is one for sale at
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Books/Nonfi...n-79675537.htm

it is the 1994 edition and is being auctioned at start of $10.
Our club www.manacc.co.nz sells them new for about $45 or $50.

The older editions were called "a cruising mans guide to the Marlborough Sounds and Tasman Bay".

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'll probably get it through Boat Books NZ. I find them very good to deal with and I want to order a couple of other books as well.

Mana don't seem to offer an online store. No big deal. Funnily enough I always liked the sound of that club.

cheers

Andrew

If you send Wayne the Club manager an email he could probably arrange it for you. If not I can sort it out. I have an Australian account so you could pay for it into that. Saves on all the conversion fees etc.

Thanks for that Darryl. I'll see how we go. If Wayne is happy to mail it to me then I'll transfer dosh to your Oz a/c and let you fix Mana up.

Cheers
