Japan to PNW

We are leaving Japan in a few weeks time to head over to Canada/USA. I know of one other boat making the passage but I suspect there might be more.
It would be great to make contact and possibly look at sharing info and maybe setup an SSB net?

Re: Japan to PNW

Hi Paul, I have made that passage twice in the 90‘s around mid June.

Its good timing, just before the onset of the typhoon season as the first ones tend to recurve early before reaching the Philippines and then sweep NE back towards Alaska.

Both times we ended doing a modified Rhumb line for first half and then GC towards Juan de Fuca because of tropical depressions.

Hope you have a great trip and fair winds.

Howdy!

I know SV MOONDANCER is making that transit too. He is regularly on CF, so relatively easy to connect with, if you have not done so already.

That is a route I have wanted to sail too.
Please report back on CF, with some details, telling us how the passage was, when complete. I think that will be interesting to read.

Bon Voyage!

Paul, there are 8-10 boats including ourselves.

We are in Tannowa marina and will leave about the 7th June.

Thanks for that, It would be interesting to know what the sea state was like, swell, wave height etc. I am wondering if we need to pack a few hundred pot noodles, or we might have the luxury of doing some proper cooking on passage ;-)
We havent fixed our destination yet, but it sounds like our route will be similar to yours.
