Post Isla Isabel - Mexico - Update on Beach Landings

Just a quick update on Isla Isabel. There is a research study being performed on the Eastern shore of Isla Isabel in the nesting area of the Blue Footed Boobies. Because of this, the beach landing there is closed. The Universtity students there are very nice and they know the guide books all say to land there, they merely ask that we get the word out.

In reality then beach landing there is not ideal anyway. At High Tide you can land, but at lower tides there are exposed rocks and a shallow tide pool which forms. If you landed a dinghy with an outboard at High Tide you'd be waiting till the next high tide to get off the beach for sure. The South anchorage and beach landing are to be preferred. The locals in the Fishing camp mostly keep to themselves, but are still very nice.

Do go though, it is amazing to see all the birds!

Fair Winds!
