Will I ever escape Panama? We have been trying to get in the yard for 2 weeks now. The bottom paint is showing several colors, and the seals on the saildrive to the hulls are beyond their suggested time. It took a week to negotiate the price of the yard. I know I was bugging the fella to death, but I don't want to go into the yard without set prices. I have been in the repair business for 33 years, so I do understand sometimes things go wrong, and there are adjustments. At least tell me the hourly rates, and approximent time. Now the electricity has gone down in the yard, and no idea when it will be back on

I ran the carb on the dink dry before we left, and put it's cover over the dink. It, the dink, was stolen, and then recovered, but the fuel was left in the open. I opened the carb, and it was fine, but the fuel line was caked with debris from fuel. We got it running, and a couple of days ago it over heated. I put the dink up on the back of the boat. Broke out the tools, and it's standard. I have only brought metric with me for years. Who would've thought that an American piece of machinery would have standard bolts? grrrrrrrr

The wind has picked up a wee bit for some good milage at Punta Mala. It has been nearly non existant. I am so ready to leave.......i2f

That engine must have been made in USA. I was working on my Briggs and Stratton 3 weeks ago and the bolts were metric. I give up! Try it to see if it fits is now the motto. Working on the self contained head this morning and the repair diagram that came with the unit does not match the toilet. Go figure! The fix is to replace the spring. I think I am going to add a washer to increase the tension.

I remembered I have a newer set of metrics. They fit tight enough that I took the chance to use them. It all worked out. Now to wait for the rain to pass, and drop the dink to see if she will start. It got pretty hot before the motor died. All the vanes were found too. I tried to load some pics of Mel cleaning parts, she did half the work......i2f.... my head is only scratched, and dented

I was taking a look at Passage Weather this morning, and it seems it would be difficult to choose your route to Hawaii. What are you looking at for weather, and have you made any decision about when to set off? Other than a low developing and moving up the coast toward Mexico, I see a lot of high pressure for the next week. What are your thoughts at this time?

They have been following in the path of hurricane Eugene, now a Cat 3. Pretty far back, but I wonder if the weather was just too bad. Actually, I hope their turn-around was weather related, and not health related.
