HELP - A Long Way To Go Home And Time Is Running Out

Only a week ago we thought about selling our boat and even had a buyer on board. Having the idea of someone else sailing her away seemed too much and we have decided there is only one thing for us to do and that is to cross the Pacific Ocean and take our boat home to Hobart Tasmania to live on.

This idea is now possible having recently crossed the Atlantic. My head space has changed to the I think I can cross the Pacific Blue - my Captain is Happy!

If anyone can help us with our new plans we would greatly appreciate. We hope to cross the Panama Canal late March.

Crossing the Panama - do you need an agent or can you do it on your own?
Are there any suggestion regarding the best route to go from Galapagos Islands, to arrive in Queensland October. We still have to transit the east coast of Australia to be in Hobart Tasmania for mid December in time for a promised Christmas with children. What are the must have resources we need to take with us? Is the provisioning good in Panama or should we start whilst we are in a French Island at the moment?

Our boat is a Catana 42 and well set up, though we thought we might try and find a second hand genoa that we can put on a soft furling wire rig to work in tandom with our current genoa. Goose-winging in the Atlantic was the way to go and our current gennoka is great but light weight. We are interested in what others think about this sailing idea or even if we need not bother or if this is not possible with such late notice.

Any ideas and advice will be gratefully accepted and thanks in advance.

Cheers

A soon to be sailing the Pacific Ocean Miss
