Going To Be Visiting Oahu in January

for 10 days with my wife and in-laws. I'd love to do some sailing while I'm there, either a half day charter, or crewing on someone elses boat.

Anyone know of any owners that would be willing to take a couple of Seattlites out in exchange for fuel/ food/ libations?

Even if I don't get a chance to do some sailing, just being there when it's cold and raining in Seattle will be just fine!

Cheers,

Dan

Hey Dan,

I was sitting in a bar in Waikiki this past July and got invited to crew on a boat that was practicing time trials. Never raced before and I must warn you, they throw up a lot of sail in 25 knot winds!!! Had the time of my life! I cant remember the captains name or contact info, but I would recommend going to the Ala Wai marina in Waikiki, and just walk around and talk to people, tell them you wish to crew and offer to buy the drinks. You should get plenty of offers, since many of the folks are non-pretentious liveaboards and are pretty down to earth.

Great suggestion!

Thanks for the ideas. Counting down and can't wait! Although I was out yesterday on the Puget Sound and it was incredible even though winds were slight at best. Sunny, 50, and clear as a bell. Not many sailing days like that in December!

sailing hasn't been great here temps i the low 80's SE winds at 5-10 and the ocean is flat Bad thing is this weather brings in the vog. Haven't sail like we were planning due to the lack of wind.
