“Yachts, other tourist ships and vessels coming to Fiji can stay in the country for up to 18 months come January 2009.
Interim Prime Minister and acting Finance Minister Voreqe Bainimarama announced in his 2009 Budget address that the duration of stay on tourist’s vessel allowable in Fiji waters would be increased to 18 months from 9 months.
He said the re-entry condition of nine months would also be removed...”

Fiji suspended from Commonwealth again


Fiji suspended from Commonwealth

This is the third time Fiji has been suspended, but this time they've been completely cut off from the Commonwealth meetings and all funding stopped. I doubt this will have much effect, personally.

However, it's interesting that the government of Fiji appears to be denying what is being well-covered everywhere else in the world:
